In a chat with Saturday Beats, the singer explained that even before he had the child that died, some people already tagged him impotent.
“The fact that we lost a child was very tough. Sometimes when you post something on the social media, people wonder why you bring your family issue to the social media. What they do not know is that you just want some words of encouragement. Sometimes you really cannot control the way bad news spreads. I have heard people say things like I cannot get a woman pregnant. When the news came out that I lost my child, it was more like a confirmation that I am a man. But by the special grace of God, I have another child now. What made that very painful was the fact that when we lost the baby, I did not know what to tell my wife and how to console her and that was a very difficult time for me. I needed to rely on the words of encouragement from people to stay strong for both myself and my wife,” he said.

EFCC arrests Akpabio’s cousin for N10m scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested Ibanga Akpabio, a cousin to former Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State for his alleged involvement in N10m oil scam.
The EFCC said on its official Facebook page that the suspect was arrested on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Akpabio’s arrest was said to be in connection with an allegation that he collected N10m from a potential investor in petroleum products.
The commission added, “Specifically, Akpabio reportedly approached the investor to invest the money as equity in the purchase of petroleum product directly from a floating station belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
“He allegedly assured the inventor that he had secured all the necessary approvals for the running of the business.

Government can no longer depend on oil for revenues – Senate President

The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has re-echoed his stance on the diversification of the nation’s source of revenue, to continue funding the budget.

Senator Saraki made this remark on Wednesday while declaring open, the second edition of the National Assembly interactive session with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Nigeria’s budget.

According to him, Nigerians should “look beyond the expenditure side of the budget and pay particular attention on our revenue generating capacities and alternatives”.He, however, said despite the current economic situation of the country, government’s expenditures, especially spending on critical infrastructure, needed to be financed.

“The daunting challenge now is how best we can ensure that the budget is utilized as an effective policy tool to navigate our way out of the current economic recession”, Saraki said.

On the need to diversify the economy, the Senate President said “the obvious reality is that government can no longer depend on oil for revenues as oil prices are projected to remain lower for longer, and oil productions have been less than projected”.The Senate President acknowledged the role of the Civil Society Organizations in budget process, through social engineering and constructive engagements.

Bridge linking Kwara, Oyo states collapses
Economic and social activities of residents of Kwara and Oyo states were on Wednesday grounded following the collapse of Moro bridge on llorin-lgbeti highway linking the two states.
The member representing Owode-Onire constituency in the state House of Assembly where the collapsed bridge is located, Abdullahi Taiwo, informed the House of the collapsed bridge during Wednesday’s plenary.

Taiwo, who was speaking under matter of urgent public importance, said the collapsed bridge had made transportation of farm produce to llorin, the state capital difficult.

He stressed the need for urgent construction of the bridge in view of its importance for transportation of food items and passengers from Oyo state and neighbouring Republic of Benin.Members, who contributed to the debate including the House Leader, stressed the significance of the collapsed bridge constructed with corrugated iron several years ago by the military engineering corps.The Deputy Speaker, Mathew Okedare, who presided over plenary, while reading the resolution of the House, directed its Committee on Energy, Works and Transport to liaise with the Federal Ministry of of Works on the reconstruction of the bridge.

The House called on the Kwara Government to put palliative measures in place before the reconstruction by the Federal Government.

Reacting, the Federal Controller of Works in Kwara, Mr Omotayo Awosanya told NAN that the Federal Government had advertised the construction of both the Moro and Ohan bridges.Awosanya said work would soon commence on the two bridges which he noted had already been captured at the 2016 budget. (NAN
Teenager arraigned for attempted theft of N.4m tricycle
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday granted an 18-year-old auto mechanic, Benjamin John, a bail of N100,000, even as he is standing trial over attempted theft of a tricycle valued at N400,000.
John, who faces a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr. Y.R. Pinheiro, ordered the accused to produce two sureties in like sum, saying that such sureties must be gainfully employed and should also show evidence of a two-year tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sergeant Mathew Akhaluode, told the court that the accused committed the offences at about 6.55a.m. at Adoke Filling Station, Dopemu Road, on Lagos-Sango-Abeokuta Expressway on October 29, 2016.
He alleged that the accused with another now at large, attempted to steal a tricycle belonging to one Davis Oluwasegun.
“The complainant said that John and his accomplice removed his tricycle from where it was parked in front of a filling station near his house in a bid to steal it.
“When the complainant came out, he saw a boy pushing the tricycle towards the next street, he then raised the alarm for help.”
The offences contravened sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused risks a three-year jail term if found guilty.
The magistrate adjourned the case to November 15 for trial. (NAN)

   APC begs Senate to approve Buhari’s $30bn loan request

 The All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South-East has urged the Senate to revisit its decision to reject the $30bn loan request by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

Recall that the Senate had yesterday rejected the government’s N9.61trillion loan foreign loan request.

Reacting to the lawmakers’ decision, the Publicity Secretary of South East APC, Hyacinth Ngwu, described the Senate’s rejection as an “ill wind that would blow no one any good”In the statement made available to journalists in Enugu, Hyacinth said, “The All Progressives Congress in the South-East geo-political zone, has appealed to the members of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to rescind their rejection of the $29.680bn loan planned for the three fiscal years of 2016-2018.
